letter head layout

still think it is missing something.  (aside from a body of text)

re-working things.........

this is where i am currently at with the business card design. i was first thinking of doing kind of a silouette (however its spelled) of a video camera on a tripod on the ride side of the back of the card. then have some text or just the icon in the monitor screen. i did one, but it did not really look that great. when i get the chance im going to go to doug's studio and take a picture of one of his cameras to use for the photo. 

aside from that, i tried making a simplified version of rolled up cables. anyone who knows anything about working on film shoots knows that alot of the time is spent rolling cables. so i thought maybe do a sillouette of a rolled up cable chord hanging on a wall or something. 

as for the front side, i want to splatter some paint on a piece of paper, scan it in, and use that inside the rectangle to the right of the card. needs some kind of texture in there aside from what is already there, its kinda boring to me.

i tried experimenting with the background color. but personally, i think it looks best left white. when i change the background color it takes away too much from the icon. particularly the boxes underneath the name. 

note to stan: i made the boxes smaller. but im not so sure i like it. i kind of liked it better with them left a little larger. i'll fool with it some more though so dont you worry!

here it is. doug will be using a different version than the one i am turning in. as well as the blue version will be used for his new website which he is currently designing right now. the main color of it will be blues so it should fit nicely. i got rid of the type and all because i felt it was just too much going on to be just a logo. the more simple it is the better i suppose. even tho i really like the way it looks with all the type in it. i figured i'd let you (stan) decide which i should turn in. but i intend on printing and mounting both versions. the other one with all the type i feel looks more like a layout or something. ALSO i moved the arrow back to the left above the UP because when it is placed there it just seems like it would fit much better when placed in the bottom left corner or a letter or business card or whatever.

i tried experimenting with turning all of the individual letters into outlines and moving them around but it wasn't working so well. i then tried to see if i couldn't bring back the beaker idea with the U. but nahhhh......

threw out the brain. and made the arrow look a little more dynamic. i was starting to feel like it was looking a bit too rectangular.

dropped the beaker icon

dropped the beaker icon. and am deciding to stick with just the arrow shape to make it look less boxed in. may try to make a new brain illustration though. not sure. i'll probably get on it tomorrow.

not sure how much im feeling it with the new brain in here. i may go back a less detailed silouette (however thats spelled) version. im still working on it though. definately unsure of how i want to put color into this.....
